Georgia Tallis is a disabled parent from Leamington Spa she has a condition called Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) it is a genetic disease that causes muscle weakness.

1. Do you feel there isn’t much help out there for disabled people wanting to have a child? 

I feel more and more disabled people are having children, but social services and the community in general don’t know how to deal with these situations as they’re not used to this happen on a daily basis. Nothing is set in place for disabled parents. I found out whilst researching there is a charity which adapts equipment for disabled people and they do a lot for parents with a disabled child. I only know a few disabled mums and mostly there is support out there for them but not much equipment available.

Cut it Out Review 2015

Please go check out Cut it Out Street Art Exhibition at Gloucester City Museum featuring Beastie a Gloucester based street Artist, Zabou a French street artist and Tankpetrol a Manchester based artist. 



Would not like to give too much away, but this exhibition is definitely worth a visit. The exhibition caters for all age groups and is set in the heart of Gloucester City centre. 

The artwork is also on sale to purchase from the artists. The gallery is showing the art from today till 20th June. Plenty of time to get down and check it all out!

Was great to see another streetart event in Gloucester! Keep them coming!! 

Bondi Beach skateboarding scene

The skatepark is set right on the sea front and was packed full of skaters and spectators. The skate park has a big bowl and rails all around!
It’s has also held the Vans skateboarding competition and the Bowlarama skate contest.

This is a very spacious skate park and has great views around the whole park! Definitely the right place to go in Australia to see talented skaters or to try it out yourself!

5 Reasons why I Love Banksy Street Art

1. Banksy’s pieces usually hold a meaning about politics and controversy which is always open to debate by his fans and the media.

2. The Bristol museum Banksy exhibition held in June 2009 was a great insight into Banksy and the issues and debates he feels strongly about.

3. Banksy has shown how graffiti/ street art has moved on over the years and more and more people see graffiti    as art

.

4. He recently created a piece in Cheltenham spa, which has since been defaced but here it is in it’s former glory!

 

5. I feel Banksy’s influence has made it easier for street artists to create art. More events, venues, cities and towns now have legalised areas to spray such as under passes, skate parks, legal walls, paint jams and festivals.

My Top 5 pieces of Streetart

This is a list of my favourite photos of street art or Graffiti. Through traveling or just walking around my home town there is street art and graffiti everywhere.  Some of the photos I’ve taken I know of the artist and their work but some of my photos taken whilst traveling I am not familiar with the underground graffiti scene for that area so therefore I cannot unfortunately credit the artist.

1. Cheltenham based artist Dice 67 found in Gloucester on the old Fusion pub still there now! Love this piece of street art and I’m lucky enough to own an original copy.

2. Artist Chow found in Leamington Spa.

3. This piece of street art was quite a recent find found in January 2015. By local Gloucester base artist Trix who has an extensive portfolio around The city.

4. Found in St George Rd Cheltenham under the bypass. This is by local street artist Beastie from Gloucester

5. Can’t do a street art post without mentioning the legend Banksy. This piece was found in Cheltenham. A lot of controversy to who owns the piece. But as of today the piece of art has been tagged by graffiti.

6 Misconceptions of Street Art

Recognition for art on the streets is low and street artist’s have to work twice as hard to get there work noticed by the public without risking a criminal record.

1. Street art is vandalism

This is a controversial issue and many people have various views.
To me it’s expression and in the right environment street art should be allowed in every town or city across the U.K such as skateparks, legal graffiti walls and in public parks etc

2. Street Art is only done by delinquent teenage boys.

This is very far from the truth. All men and women of all ages have expressed themselves by creating street art throughout history.

3. Street art is not art

This is open to interpretation.
Very slowly street art is making its way into the main stream and events such as Street Fest in London has just had their 7th festival in 2014. These festivals show cast vast amounts of talent and different types of street art and graffiti which appeal too a wide audience.

Also many other cities across the U.K have started street art festivals. We were lucky enough to enjoy Paint Jam in early August 2014. The first ever street art festival for Gloucester.
The festivals are usually weekend events that can be enjoyed by all ages.

4. Street art and graffiti is bad for the community.

Street art brings people and businesses across the spectrum together. Many companies offer or commission a street artist to design something for their premises.
This may include a mural on the side of the building, street art painted within a pub or nightclub or to spruce up a company’s reception area.

5. All Street artists are well off.

Most street artist do sell their work but the profits are put back into their art and more materials and art supplies are bought with the proceeds.

6. Street Artists have it easy.

Many artist’s struggle to show the world their talents and street art is a big door way to showing vast amounts of people their work. Street artist’s have to prove themselves and be dedicated in order for their work to receive any recognition.

Retro Trends – Fashion

Bring back baggy Jeans!!

The whole point of this rant is to figure out when baggy jeans will make an appearance obviously they have been losing out to skinny jeans for far too long!

Fashion is a crazy industry. Every piece of clothing we have has been done before. Trends come and go but how do they start? It’s complicated! Something that was once in fashion will surely come back around eventually!

Skinny Jeans have been in fashion for the past few years originally starting in the 1950′s.
Baggy jeans were at their peak in the in the late 80′s and throughout the 90′s due to popular hip hop bands Run DMC and the Beastie Boys also skateboarding was very popular and in my opinion sport and music play a large part in fashion trends.

We might not have that long to wait slogan tshirts with large logos are creeping their way back in. I thought the large printed Tee’s would have stayed locked in the 90′s but who am
I to judge every piece of clothing needs a second chance or in many cases a third or fourth.

If I have worked out my calculations correctly I think roughly it takes 15 years for a trend to come back around. Sooner rather than later the Baggy Jeans will be back on top where they belong. Here’s hoping in 2014 next year we will all be heading back to 1999 I can’t wait!

Gloucester Paint Jam August 2014

Gloucester Paint Jam was held on 2-3 August 2014 and featured various artist from around the globe. The build up to the festival was very exciting and updated through social media and the local Gloucester citizen newspaper. A map of where the street art was being completed around Gloucester city centre was issued a few days before the event.

I was lucky enough to see many of the artist at work and their finished pieces.

This event was free and open to everyone of all ages.

The Rusty Alexander traveling art gallery was also featured at Paint Jam on both days. Offering art to purchase from many of the painters featured at the festival.

The Street Art Festival was the first to be held in Gloucester and I hope there are many more to come.
